Waitaramoa – Remuera’s natural heritage

Auckland Council has recently completed a new walkway alongside the Remuera stream at the bottom of Portland Road in what was called Waitaramoa Reserve on the corner of Portland and Shore Roads. The environmental works mean the area is now open for the public to explore – it is an incredible local walk of native plants and walkways.

Remuera Heritage wishes to acknowledge the huge contribution to heritage architecture, restoration and preservation. He was particularly helpful last year in assisting Remuera residents to identify the special character and heritage features of their properties in response to Council’s Plan Change 78 re housing intensification. He has left a huge legacy for New Zealand heritage.

It was wet and windy for our Christmas party but thanks to the hospitality of Sotheby’s Remuera, we were warmly hosted inside the old Remuera Post Office, the historic landmark building in Remuera. There was a guest piper to brighten the day, 21-year-old Finlay John Cameron who is here from Lochaber, Scotland.
