REMUERA HERITAGE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2025

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday, 13th June 2025. Speakers will include Troy Churton of the Orakei Local Board and Sally Hughes, Chair of the Character Coalition.


Troy Churton, Orakei Local Board, will discuss Special Character Areas and how they might be retained or impacted if the Council opts out of Medium Density Residential Standards under Plan Change 78.

We welcome everyone who is passionate about heritage, whether it’s cultural, built, natural or local history. Your attendance at this meeting is encouraged, as are those who are interested in contributing in any way to learn about the heritage of our community, undertaking research, doing social media work or joining the committee. The post-AGM speaker will be Sally Hughes who is Chair of the Character Coalition, an incorporated society and charity which is an umbrella group of 75 heritage, historical and residents groups in the Auckland region. The Coalition’s purpose is to:

  • Recognise, protect and enhance the character and heritage of Auckland;
  • Provide information to members and the community about character and heritage issues in Auckland;
  • Engage and associate with interested community groups on how best to recognise, protect and enhance character and heritage;
  • Do anything necessary or helpful to the above purposes.

Sally will talk about why the Coalition was formed and the role it plays in heritage and character in Auckland.
