Remuera Heritage notes with sadness the passing of Ngaire Bailey in January 2023, aged 93. Ngaire was a member of Remuera Heritage and the granddaughter of Leonard John Keys, the first store owner in Remuera.

He was particularly helpful last year in assisting Remuera residents to identify the special character and heritage features of their properties in response to Council’s Plan Change 78 re housing intensification. He has left a huge legacy for New Zealand heritage.

Christmas at the old Post Office

It was wet and windy for our Christmas party but thanks to the hospitality of Sotheby’s Remuera, we were warmly hosted inside the old Remuera Post Office, the historic landmark building in Remuera. There was a guest piper to brighten the day, 21-year-old Finlay John Cameron who is here from Lochaber, Scotland.
