Come to College Rifles in Haast St, Remuera for a visit to their newly expanded museum commemorating their members who went to the two world wars. There is plenty of car parking in the grounds, so meet in the bar at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

College Rifles was formed in 1897 as a cadets’ military unit with students from Auckland Grammar, Kings College and St John’s College. The sole New Zealander to win a Victoria Cross at Gallipoli was Cyril Royston Guyton Bassett, a 23-year-old bank clerk from Mt Eden and a member of the College Rifles.
