Remuera Heritage has been invited by Chris and Charlotte Swasbrook to their Claude Megson architect-designed 1960s house in Remuera to visit and experience a Megson house and artwork. We will meet first at the neighbouring 1870s house with Lauraine Jacobs, well-known food writer.
Claude Megson was like Frank Lloyd Wright, was a romantic visionary, dogmatic teacher and passionate craftsman…Megson’s houses are complex and introverted, made up of interlocking forms shaped around the patterns and activities of the household. The Wong house steps down the slopes of Remuera, broken over a number levels into a series of cubes and terraces. (Giles Reid).
