Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Tram Tour for Remuera Heritage – Saturday 29th March 2025. RSVP now!

Remuera Heritage has adopted the Remuera Tram 44, and we’re invited to an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at MOTAT! This is a Members-only event.

The journey begins at MOTAT’s Great North Road site, where James Duncan, MOTAT’s Tramway Project Manager and leading tram expert, will guide us through the tram barns, offering a unique insight into the restoration and preservation of these historic vehicles.

After a refreshing coffee break, the adventure continues with a visit to MOTAT’s off-site storage facility in Penrose. Here, we’ll gain rare access to even more of MOTAT’s tram collection, with insights from Alba Letts, MOTAT’s Director of Collections, and additional commentary from James.

Schedule for Saturday 29th March 2025 –

10:00 AM – Arrive at MOTAT Great North Road for the tram barn tour
10:45 AM – Coffee/tea break at the MOTAT Café
11:15 AM – Travel to MOTAT’s off-site storage in Penrose
11:45 AM – Exclusive behind-the-scenes storage tour
1:15 PM – Wrap up and head home

• If the numbers are sufficient, Remuera Heritage will organise transport to MOTAT at Great South Road and Penrose. Please indicate in your RSVP if you would like this option.
• Attendees will need to wear closed-toe shoes that are comfortable for walking.
• If anyone has accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
