The Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau Authority has notified us that the daffodil patch opposite the war memorial seat has not been marked out and sprayed, rather it has been mown by contractors for in-fill planting of additional daffodil bulbs.

The contractors advise that this in-fill planting is now near complete.

The daffodil patch forms part of the war memorial and the Tūpuna Maunga Authority had previously given us an assurance that the war memorial would be preserved and not removed. We have taken this to include the daffodils, which has been added to by Councillor Desley Simpson and local school children in recent years.

The daffodils usually come out in early June, when the hillside is covered in the erlicheer.
