Calling William Henning’s Descendants

Are you a descendant of the Henning family? David Hartnell MNZM has a Memorial Plaque or “Dead Man’s Penny” for William Henning which was issued after the First World War to the next-of-kin of all British and Empire service personnel who were killed as a result of the war. He would very much like to return it to a family member.

William Henning and his brother George were well known in the early New Zealand motor and aviation industries. William and George Henning were attributed with importing the first motor vehicle into New Zealand to Auckland in November 1895. William served in WW1 but was killed in action 13 September 1918.  Read more about the Hennings here.
